ASM 2.3

Wednesday, 2009-09-02 12:24 CEST

ASM 2.3 adds compatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 a.k.a. Snow Leopard, though the dock menu feature is currently not supported and possibly never will.

ASM 2.3 is a free upgrade for existing customers who purchased a license after 2009-02-28. Otherwise you have to purchase a new license. This is a change of policy, in the course of nearly seven years updates were free for existing customers. At the same time I set a substantially lower price for ASM: 6.99 EUR (plus taxes) for a single user license.

Many thanks to Alex Harper for developing a new version of MenuCracker that is 64-bit capable. It is a prerequisite for ASM's menu bar integration.

For computers running older system software (pre 10.5), the previous version of ASM is still available for download.

ASM 2.2.9

Saturday, 2008-12-20 12:27 CET

Security Update 2008-008 for Mac OS X 10.4.11 broke ASM unfortunately. According to some reports ASM will permanently crash the Dock after installing the security update.

ASM 2.2.9 fixes the crashing issue by disabling dock menu support on Mac OS X 10.4.11.

This is the only workaround I could come up for now. My iMac and MacBook both run Leopard and it is not possible to install 10.4.x on these machines.

ASM 2.2.8 restores dock menu support on Mac OS X 10.5.6.

10.5.4 + 2.2.7 = :-)

ASM 2.2.7 adds support for dock sub menus on Mac OS X 10.5.4.

ASM 2.2.5 withdrawn

Tuesday, 2008-06-03 08:57 CEST

It seems something went bad with the latest update for ASM, I have got a couple of reports about ASM 2.2.5 pref pane crashing System Preferences. I apologize for any inconveniene this may caused. Until the issue is solved I withdraw the update.

What can I say

For dock sub menu support on Mac OS X 10.5.2 you need to install ASM 2.2.4.

Dock sub menus - the never ending story

Tuesday, 2008-01-22 00:13 CET

A new maintenance update for ASM is now available. There was still a problem with dock sub menus in ASM 2.2.2 when running it under Leopard on PPC machines unfortunately. Many thanks to Ben Friedman who reported the issue and helped to test the fix.

Say hello to ASM 2.2.1

Thursday, 2007-11-15 01:46 CET

ASM 2.2.1 improves compatibility with Leopard, in particular the dock sub menu feature was fixed again. Please note that I have had no chance to test the version on a PPC machine as yet. My G3 iMac died a few month ago and my iBook is also not in a good shape unfortunately.

Ready for Leopard

Friday, 2007-10-26 23:35 CEST

There still seem to be some folk out there that cannot live without it. So, I am happy to announce that ASM 2.2 runs on Mac OS X 10.5 aka Leopard. Actually, this is only part of the truth. Dock menu feature is broken for now, but as soon as I get my copy of Leopard (hopefully, in a couple of days) I will fix this and post another update for ASM.
